Believe it or not, college life isn’t just about studying. Yes, of course, your academic work should always be your primary focus. Still, there’s plenty of other things that go into making your college experience the best stage of your life!

When you sign up for a TOC Automotive College course, you can expect a smooth learning experience thanks to all of the excellent facilities and resources available on campus. Still, student life is also about what happens when classes are over.

Thankfully, the campus’ strategic location within Petaling Jaya also gives you easy access to everything you need to make the most of your student life.

In this local guide, we will help you identify the closest amenities that you have near TOC’s campus. So, no matter what kind of errands you need to run, you’ll know that everything you need is just a few minutes away.

Let’s get started!

How To Find Your Way Around

In this article, you’re going to see the names of a lot of places. To help you navigate your way towards these locations (and find your way back to campus!), you should download and use navigation apps on your smartphone.

Two of the best apps that you’ll find most useful are Google Maps and Waze.

Here’s something that most people don’t realise: these apps aren’t just useful when you’re driving, but also when you’re walking!

So, if you decide to walk over to some of the destinations mentioned in this guide, don’t be afraid to use those apps to help you find your way!

Places To Eat

Let’s start with the basics: where to eat. That is yet another way that the TOC campus is strategically located, as you have nearby access to all sorts of food for all different budgets. Let’s look at three examples of where to have daily meals, fast food, and also something for special occasions!

Daily Meals

For everyday affordable meals, an excellent place to check out is the food court or Medan Selera on Jalan 14/20. Here, you’ll be spoilt for choice with many different stalls where you can buy food for an affordable price.

Like the many office workers and students that come to this food court every day, you and your friends can also do the same!

Fast Food

Whether you prefer McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Subway or KFC, there’s plenty of that nearby as well.

You can find the nearest McDonalds located on Jalan 14/4, right opposite Jaya Shopping Centre. A few doors down from that is also the nearest Pizza Hut if that’s what you prefer.

Burger King and Subway, however, are across the street located in Jaya 33.

Sadly, KFC is a little bit further away and not within walking distance. Look for ‘KFC Jalan Universiti’ on your navigation app, and you’ll find that it’s far up the road on Jalan University, perhaps about 5 minutes away by car.

Something Special

For special occasions like birthdays and other celebrations, some people might feel like having a steak and other similar cuisines. You can find Chilli’s located at Jaya Shopping Centre, also in Section 14, a perfect place to have Tex-Mex and other American-style food.

Places To Get Groceries and Supplies

For many students living on their own, finding groceries can be quite a challenge. That’s not a problem in this case, as there are plenty of supermarkets and mini-marts close to the TOC Automotive College campus.

Supermarkets and Mini-Marts

When it comes to supermarkets, you’re spoilt for choice. Jaya Shopping Centre, Jaya 33, and Jaya One all have their supermarkets. The first two have Jaya Grocers outlets, while Jaya One is home to an Aeon BIG outlet instead. All of them are excellent places to get everything you need, from food items to toiletries.

Suppose you prefer shopping at mini-marts. Well, Section 14 also has a KK Mart and 99 Speedmart located along Jalan 14/20.

Places To Run Errands

Part of being a college student means taking on some adult responsibilities. That means running errands from time to time, like going to the bank or the post office to settle some personal matters.

No worries, though.

Banking

If you’re looking for the nearest Maybank branch, it’s located in Section 14 along Jalan 14/14. It’s right opposite the post office. Public Bank and Hong Leong Bank also have branches along the same street.

However, if you’re a CIMB customer, you have two options. There’s a branch located on the first floor of Jaya Shopping Centre, and another one located at Jaya One.

These bank branches are excellent for when you need to use the ATM, make a deposit, or perform any other banking tasks.

Post Office

As mentioned earlier, there’s also a post office located in Section 14 on Jalan 14/14, opposite the Maybank branch.

Don’t forget: post offices can help you do more than just send mail! At Pos Malaysia offices like the one in Section 14, you can also:

  • Pay utility bills.

  • Pay fines.

  • Transfer money.

  • Buy boxes (to send items, or even to store items at home!).

  • And more!

Places To Have Some Fun

Last but not least, here are a couple of places where you can relax and have fun when you’re not busy learning.

Movies

The closest cinema to the TOC campus is located in Jaya Shopping Centre in Section 14. On the top floor, you’ll find a TGV Cinemas that shows all the latest blockbusters released recently on the top floor.

If you don’t mind travelling a little further, there’s also a cinema located at 3 Damansara (formerly known as Tropicana City Mall), which has a GSC branch instead.

Sports

Love Futsal? Check out SportsCity Futsal PJ located on Jalan 13/2 in Section 13. They offer two artificial grass courts and two polypropylene interlock courts for players to choose from!

Naturally, there’s a lot more to explore in the areas surrounding TOC Automotive College. But this list should get you started as you find your way around the city!
